This past Saturday Capt' Steve had plans to be gone all afternoon and evening for some much needed and deserved recreation with his man friends. Because I knew I would be hunkering down for the remainder of the day and night, I told him that I would like Saturday morning off . Totally off duty. As in I'm leaving and I will be back around noon.
I NEVER DO THIS.
It was so grand.
I started out with coffee and grocery list making.
Then I leisurely dipped into Home Depot to buy some paint.
Next, I wandered a flea market and told myself that I could take one full hour. And I did take the full hour.
My one find - salt and pepper shakers. $3.
Don't you love a teacup? I'm drawn to them.
I wrapped up my little adventure at Publix, my home away from home.
It was such a treat to just GET OUT. Stephen Grande is always encouraging me to do this more. But I love to be with my family and I find it really hard to pull away...even for a few hours.
I spent the rest of the weekend hunkered down with these two knuckleheads - drinking hot tea, making cookies, wearing over sized sweatshirts, and painting and rearranging furniture.
I hope your weekend left you refreshed and invigorated too.

glad you had such a good time! whenever i leave for a few hours, i always end up at the flea market. H will call and say, "you're at the flea market again?!" but he knows thats where i always go. there's something relaxing about it. love your salt & pepper shakers!
Like Joy, I love the salt and pepper shakers. I couldn't have resisted the books, though. What are you painting? And what color? I still recall your post about the pregancy bathroom painting adventure!
So happy to hear you got some "mommy time". Just a few hours can lift the spirit and re-energize you for what is to come!
I need a morning like this soon! Sounds like the rest of your weekend was great too. What a great find those shakers were. SO pretty.
Good for you!
The only thing that could've made this better is if you'd taken that scooter cart for a spin around Publix.
Oh man was I glad to read this and see y'all weren't sick this weekend. We've had the stomach virus, and I just *knew* we'd probably passed it to y'all when we visited Friday!
Glad to hear it was a good weekend and you had some mama time. I think it makes us better at our job when we have away time.
A couple of hours away can make a big difference. What colorful pictures.
What a fun time! Glad you were able to sneak away for a bit.
