My New Mantra: Do Less

I'm aiming to retire as a short order cook. I'm experimenting with making 1 meal for all. We all eat spaghetti pie. We all eat soup. We all eat scrambled eggs. We all eat spinach, mushroom, and feta quiche. We all eat grilled cheese.

This is a good thing, people! It's going well.

Also, I'm embracing anything and everything that makes life just that much easier. I've been telling people that my mantra lately is: do less.

My cousin offers - Do you want me to make Laurie's birthday cake?
Me: YES!

A friend offers us some leftovers for dinner.
Me: Bring. Them. On. THANK YOU.

I don't think I'll make our bed today.

This is life with a 1 and 2 year old. Cut back. Play outside. Do less.

I'm not talking about being lazy. I'm talking about being realistic. I'm talking about not putting too much on my plate. I'm telling myself to do less so I can stay sane and have time to do more of what is important - like sleep, pay my bills, and watch re-runs of the office with Capt' Steve.

Isn't that liberating?!

We don't really get much "done" around here every day! :)

  3. haha! I love this! I remember re-defining what it meant to "get something done" when my kids were that little.

And I heartily endorse the concept of one meal for everyone. It saves SO MUCH time and hassle (plus, I'm influencing my children's palates because they're eating what the adults eat and like).

  5. good. for. you.

This is very hard for most. You are totally on the right track. It's all about enjoying time with the family and not fussing over the unecessary.

  6. I agree with the others that this can be hard. At the end of the day, there's no tangible evidence that we rolled the ball 100 times with the boys or rocked our baby girls. I don't think I would call it doing "less", though, because you're still filling your hours with meaningful work.
