Thanksgiving 2011

Hello blog friends and family -
I sincerely hope you had a happy Thanksgiving.

I'm grateful for all the good things in my life.
Many many many good things.

Food, water, a warm bed, my dear husband, precious children, my extended family, Jesus' active role in my life, His protection, His council, His goodness and love working in our family daily.

Y'all, those are some good things.

This year we spent Thanksgiving day with Captain Steve's family. I love Stephen's parents' house. There is always coffee, good conversation, and a small army of children running at your feet.

I didn't do the greatest job of documenting. So how about a few iPhone photos with a little narration?

Stephen Small watching the Macy's parade.

A lovely arrangement by my mother in-law. She has a gift for flower arranging.

One of the mugs from their eclectic collection. I picked this one for it's wintery theme and cheery colors.

Laurie Betty in her cozy pj's.

The little kid table.

My feast.

Receiving a zerbert on my leg while eating said feast.

Late afternoon coffee and pumpkin pie that I made myself. Homemade whip cream that I also made myself. This was my contribution.

Gathering round the laptop for some YouTube.

And last but not least, here's a little clip of my father-in-law dancing the Bernie. We did not take an official vote, but I feel comfortable in saying that it's unanimous amongst the family that he is the best Bernie dancer of all of us.

If you are confused about what the Bernie is - see video below. Start practicing and impress your family members at Christmas.

Now that I've got this Thanksgiving post done, I'm ready to move on to Christmas-y things. Stephen Small and I are making some ornaments this week :)

  1. I would love nothing more than for the whole wide internet world to see Dad dancing the Bernie... but the video isn't working!

Quick! Fix it before Dad sees that this is out there and makes you pull it!! :)

  3. Coincidentally Schaumburg HS is not that far from where I live. We're a talented bunch here in IL.

  4. I love the Smalls watching the parade on the computer. Made me smile.

Could you add pumpkin pie and real whip cream to list of things I want to eat at your house one day? Thanks. :)

  6. I missed you! glad you're back. Your pie looks delicious and I suddenly realized I did NOT eat any pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving (too full!). Must fix that.
