Friday night, Capt' Steve and I attended a friend's rehearsal dinner. And these little orange beauties were on display at each place setting. The room smelled aah-maaaazing, and they added so much to the overall effect of the table decor.
The groom's sister made each and every one. She carved out the tops and put in the greenery and berries. When I asked her if I could take a few home and share them on my blog she said sure! {Thanks, Kate}
I lost the original berries on the transport home Friday night, so I replaced them with some Pyracantha berries. We have a massive Pyracantha shrub on our street.
What I love about these is they are so lovely yet so doable. I could do this! Cut out the orange top, place in some greenery and berries. I just love how creative and simple these are.
If you are looking for a last minute holiday craft, I highly recommend. Mine are sitting on my kitchen windowsill. They are so festive. They make me happy. I have a feeling I'll be coming back to these year after year.
Great idea!!
ReplyDeleteLove it! I'm so doing this.
ReplyDeleteyou are right - they're so fresh and pretty!
ReplyDeletebut, really - you just carve out a little of the top? the flesh is just exposed and you stick in the leaves and berries?? Just want to make sure I have the concept because i'm pretty sure I'm going to copy you and your kind friend.
Molly sent me over to look at these. So cute! I bet if you put them on the stove while you're cooking, the kitchen would smell amazing!
