Mine are {in no particular order}:
Dan in Real Life
Gone with the Wind
When Harry Met Sally
Rear Window
Father of the Bride
They are subject to change throughout the years. I'll give Babette's Feast an honorary #6.
This week we discontinued our cable and started subscribing to Netflix. Our first movie arrived in the mail and we plan on watching it tonight...Alfred Hitchcock's North by Northwest. Love me some Hitchcock.
So really, what are your top 5? I'm working on my queue.
Happy Weekending!
We did that as well about 5 months ago. It worked out pretty well!
ReplyDelete1. The Sound of Music
ReplyDelete2. Say Anything
3. Under the Tuscan Sun
4. Maria Full of Grace
5. Elf
Brave woman! We love Netflix:)
ReplyDeleteThat is how we live! No cable. Not even local programming. We did dvds only for five years, and for the last two, thank the Lord, we've had Netflix! :)
ReplyDeleteBandits is a must see! So is Family Man.
Beaches
ReplyDeleteWalk the Line
Sideways
How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
King's Speech (not out yet, but LOVED it!)
Oh, and if you are adding things to your queue...add Burn Notice! It's a TV series and you might have already seen it, but I think it's so fun to watch!
This is a hard question, but I love the movie Vicki, Christina, Barcelona. Also Feast of love. Those are some unknowns that are kind of "weird" but really good! But I'm with you; nothing compares to Father of the bride or Gone with the Wind. For some strange reason, I like the 1st DVD of Gone with the Wind better than the 2nd. I can't let it go: the south will rise again!

ReplyDeleteThe Graduate
Little Miss Sunshine
Some Like It Hot
Rocky (I - IV at least)
East of Eden (the version with James Dean)
Young Frankenstein
Blazing Saddles

... and all of the ones everybody else mentioned. I also have a huge fondness for two movies that no one else liked: "Mixed Nuts"(suicide prevention hot line on Christmas Eve in Venice California) and "Joe vs. the Volcano" (Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan in a film that flopped at the box office but that I loved!)
Bringing Up Baby -Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn--for starters
